Education & Learning Program 2025

We’re excited to offer a broad Education & Learning program for teachers and students, spanning live performance, Q&As, tours, work experience, online resources and TR Future Stages, our year-long program for students in years 10 - 12.

Our offerings support educators in creating experiences beyond the classroom, connecting with core curriculum and helping students further engage with their theatre visit.

Our 2025 Education & Learning program and booking form can be viewed here.

Q&A's

In conjunction with every school performance in 2025, there will be a Q&A session (20-30 minute approx.) immediately post-show, providing an opportunity for students to engage directly with the cast and creative team.

Regional Access Workshops with Bell Shakespeare
Regional Access Workshops are practical 75-minute workshops which take place approximately one month in advance of the performance of Romeo & Juliet here in Hobart. All schools that book tickets to see Romeo & Juliet at the Theatre Royal, prior to Friday 29 August, are entitled to a Regional Access Workshop at no charge. Upon booking in to see the show, Theatre Royal education staff will refer key teacher contacts to Bell Shakespeare to organise these workshops directly.

Education Resources
Most of the companies performing in 2025 will provide Education Packs & Resources, which support student engagement with productions. These Education Packs will be listed on the relevant school show page on the Theatre Royal website, when they become available. They often include further and more in-depth curriculum links and in-class exercises to prepare for, or reflect on, your experience at the theatre. Show pages will be available after 6pm on 13 November.

If you have requests for further resource development, we’d love to hear your thoughts; contact education@theatreroyal.com.au

In 2025, we again follow the tradition of providing a literary connection in our school shows. We are bringing you a work based on a best-selling children’s book, alongside two new works by much-loved Tasmanian companies and their interstate and international collaborators!

Each show has a 20-minute post-show Q&A with the show’s cast and creative teams, so your students can ask their burning questions.

Tickets for primary school shows in 2025 are $20 per student.
One (1) x free teacher / carer complimentary ticket will be allocated per 10 students. Show pages will be available after 6pm on 13 November.

In 2025, we have a cult literature classic alongside several Shakespeare tragedies. Students will also be able to experience the world premiere of a Tasmanian contemporary dance work, exploring the impact of social media, and the return of our favourite improv comedy geniuses from New Zealand.

Each show has a 20-30-minute post-show Q&A with the show’s cast and creative teams, so stick around to ask your questions.
