Additional Marketing Opportunities

Below is some information on additional marketing opportunities that hirers of the Theatre Royal venues can consider to increase your marketing reach. These are in addition to the marketing services that are included as part of the venue hire fee.



For a fee, the Theatre Royal will place boosted (paid advertising) Facebook or Instagram posts promoting your show. These must be booked in advance and the booking form is available in the button bellow.

Please note, two weeks' notice as a minimum is needed for this service. You will need to specify the amount that you wish to spend on the boosted post and the types of audiences you wish to target eg, age range, demographic. . Hirers can provide material and copy suggestion for the paid posts; and the Theatre Royal will then develop the campaign, the exact timing of the boosted post will be at the discretion of the Theatre Royal.

A $25 (ex GST) service fee will apply in addition to the cost of the paid boost.


Announcement EDM - $150+ GST

This EDM could announce that your show is going on sale or could offer a pre-sale purchase opportunity prior to your show going on sale to the general public. This targeted EDM, which features your show only, will be sent to a customised mailing list, based on previous ticket purchases for a similar show/genre. In addition to the $150 (+ GST) fee to produce the EDM and to build the mailing list, there is a cost of 0.03 cents per email address. The number of email addresses on the mailing list will be confirmed with you prior to the EDM being sent out. Please note, two weeks notice as a minimum is needed for this service.


Push EDM - $250+ GST

After your show has been on sale for some time, you may wish to give sales a push closer to the performance date. The email list for this EDM will be deduped to exclude those who have already purchased tickets to your show. In addition to the $250 fee to produce the EDM and to build the mail list, there is a cost of 0.03 cents per email address. The number of email addresses on the mailing list will be confirmed with you prior to the eDM being sent out. Please note, two weeks notice as a minimum is needed for this service.

Hobart based advertising and PR information

If you do choose to pursue PR opportunities, it is recommended that you advise the Theatre Royal Marketing Team in advance so we can capitalize on your activities eg. share newspaper articles or radio interviews.

Bus Backs

  • Go Transit manage all Metro buses in Tasmania and offer both external and internal advertising options.

Outdoor Billboards

  • Claude Neon offer outdoor billboards across the state, including large scale static billboards, and digital billboards in car parks.
  • The State Cinema. The State Cinema in North Hobart offers on-screen advertising on a monthly basis. Opportunities include static and video screen advertising. 

TV and Radio

There are several commercial radio stations you can use for advertising, interviews, ticket giveaways and other promotions.

7TAS and WinTAS are the major commercial TV stations in Tasmania and can be focused to southern Tasmania viewers only if desired.

ABC Hobart Radio and Television

ABC 936 local radio – the ABC is very supportive of the performing arts in Tasmania, and you can pitch stories and interview opportunities for specific programs or for ABC News.

The Mercury

The Mercury is the only daily newspaper printed in Hobart and it is Tasmania's largest-circulating daily newspaper. The Mercury has an active desktop and mobile device website: http://www.themercury.com.au/.

The Tas Weekend Magazine is a lifestyle magazine which is inserted in The Mercury every Saturday. The Mercury and the Tas Weekend magazines offer opportunities for print advertising and The Mercury also offers digital advertising options and you can contact Advertising Support on (03) 6230 0642.

The Hobart Magazine

A monthly magazine for people who live and work in Hobart. Proudly independent, local and free. The Hobart Magazine currently circulates 35,000 copies each month through 300 distribution points in Hobart and Launceston. The majority are delivered to inner city homes, the rest are distributed via Hill Street Grocer, cafes, retail outlets, waiting rooms and public places.
