ANITO
World Premiere
ANITO transports audiences to a simultaneously ancient and futuristic place out of time. Fig trees heaving with ripe fruit harbour mythical creatures both beautiful and terrifying. Seasons change and fertile new life bubbles into existence.
In this world premiere performance, Justin Shoulder and their collective of artists with deep roots in underground, queer and diasporic club scenes conjure lush ecosystems sculpted by the opposing forces of terror and beauty.
Merging installation, visual arts, theatre and dance, ANITO’s world blurs boundaries between human, machine, animal and plant to question the definition of life itself.
Made in collaboration with Matthew Stegh, Corin Ileto, Fausto Brusamolino, Victoria Hunt & Eugene Choi, Anthony Aitch, Brenda Lam and Luna Aquatica.
