A Conversation with Julia Fredersdorff
Since being founded by Julia Fredersdorff in 2016, Van Diemen's band has rapidly risen to become one of the state’s leading cultural organisations. Recognised for their extraordinary and beautifully presented performances and their focus on sharing early music and historical instruments with new and growing audiences.
We are fortunate to have the early music specialist Julia Fredersdorff living in Tasmania. During this conversation she will share highlights of her international performance and recording career: from membership of the finest ensembles in Europe, such as: Le Talens Lyriques, Le Parlemont de Musiques, Ensemble Aurora and Bach Concentus; to her role as Artistic Director of the Annual Peninsula Summer Music Festival on the Mornington Peninsula. Julia has toured throughout Australia and New Zealand, and in Europe from Reykjavik to Wroclaw, and Madeira to Venice. Julia has participated in forty international recordings for BIS, Deutsche Gramaphon, Erato, Vexations840 and ABC Classic and many more.
Julia Fredersdorff will be interviewed by the acclaimed actor and broadcaster, Jane Longhurst.
