The Loom
The Loom is a dystopian fable set in the future, when citizens are controlled by the Loom, a mysterious apparatus of control.
In this world, poetry, song, dreams and wild visions of mythical creatures are removed from the minds of the populace, so that the only dreams which are possible are the dreams which have been made by the Loom.
The Loom weaves the stories of multiple characters trapped in a strange world. A late 70's early 80's beatboy with his beige, cable-knittedness sidles up to a leather-clad punk poetess. A single-mum climbs the black and white ladder while her JoJo dreams technicolor deviations. Mannequin-perfect Chantelles watch over all with Loom-eyes wide open.
Directed by Davina Wright, performed and designed by graduating Theatre and Performance students, with sound design by UTAS Music student Ella Robinson.
