Xyris Quartet
Xyris Quartet’s performances rely solely on the saxophone to interpret classical standards and experimental contemporary composition.
Its members – Benjamin Price (soprano saxophone), Jabra Latham (alto saxophone), Thomas McKay (tenor saxophone), and Eva Nilssen (baritone saxophone) – play exclusively on vintage saxophones that preserve the acoustic properties intended by the instrument’s inventor, Adolphe Sax.
Xyris Quartet has recorded and performed for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and appeared as soloists with the Hobart Chamber Orchestra.
For Xyris Quartet’s Theatre Royal season, its players will tackle the timeless works of classical masters, contemporary compositions and debut brand new music that bridges centuries of musical tradition.
